Hi-Lo
One of
the most popular and easiest blackjack card counting strategies
is the Hi-Lo count. The Hi-Lo system is a balanced, single level
counting system, that works by assigning point values of +1, 0 or
-1 to each card dealt. The point values are distributed as shown
in the table below:

The count
starts at zero when there is a new shuffle and a new shoe is introduced
in the game. As the cards are dealt, the player mentally keeps a
running count of the cards exposed, and makes bets based on the
current count total and the number of decks left to be played (true
count). The higher the plus count, the greater the advantage to
the player (higher percentage of high cards remaining to be dealt).
This is an indication to the player to increase his bets upwards.

Anyone
who has decided to use this system will definitely want to
pick up Professional Blackjack by Stanford Wong. However,
even if one uses another count, this is a very useful book
for any card counter: it includes accurate indexes for most
game variations and systems to beat Over/Under, Bustout, and
Double Exposure. For many professional card counters this
is the blackjack book on the game to buy. |
