Hi-Opt II

The Hi-Opt II blackjack card counting system is a complex, level two, balanced strategy that was designed for the use by seasoned professionals. This system is mathematically more advanced and provides a slightly larger edge for the player, compared to the simpler card counting systems.

The most complicated element of the Hi-Opt II system is that the card values have a larger range which make it harder to keep an accurate count during the game. The actual point values are distributed as shown in the table below:

In the Hi-Opt II strategy, a separate count of aces is kept to increase de playing efficiency by adjusting the basic strategy according to the number of aces left in the shoe.

The combination of Ace counting and multiple card values makes the Hi-Opt II count a fairly complicated system. so only use the Hi-Opt II system if you’re already familiar with card counting and you aren’t easily distracted at the blackjack tables.

The World's Greatest Blackjack Book by Lance Humble and Carl Cooper provides a complete description of the Hi-Opt II card counting strategy. It is an excellent book for those who want to move up from beginner status.
